WIRA MERDEKA depicts the early struggles fought by Malay political leaders and national heroes against foreign colonization in Malaya until the achievement of its independence on 31st August 1957. The historic journey of these political leaders and national heroes in defending the sovereignty of their homeland began upon the uninvited settlement of the Portuegese on Malay soil to the Japanese occupation and the threats of communists leading to the freedom that is enjoyed today by their posterity. |
Notable political champions such as Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Hussein Onn and national heroes such as Mat Kilau and Tok Janggut not only gave their undivided dedication but also sacrificed their lives to defend their homeland. WIRA MERDEKA pays tribute to these champions and heroes and unfolds their stories for today’s generation to truly appreciate the true meaning of Independence. |
WIRA MERDEKA is produced in still illustrations with extensive camera movement that defines the unique production approach of this series. The series consist of 30 four-minute episodes and 1 twenty-minute episode. The final episode acclaims the previous Prime Ministers of Malaysia, namely Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Hussein Onn Tun Abdul Razak, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. |
